Can an individual who is GST registered have their GST waived?Back to TopYes, if a GST certificate is provided to confirm this information, GST charges can be reversed.

What is the process for companies/institutions that are exempt from GST, for example, healthcare and education institutions?Back to TopIf a GST-exempt company or institution pays all of a member’s membership dues and fees, they can send a copy of the GST certificate to taxquestions@toastmasters.org. Once approved, the Club Quality and Member Support Team will provide an updated invoice without the GST included.

If a corporate club located in the USA pays membership dues on behalf of members globally, some of whom are located in India, is GST still applicable?Back to TopYes, the tax is applied based on the physical address of the member, not the address of the entity submitting payment, as per Section 2(93)(a) of the GST Act, the “recipient” of the services means the person who is liable to pay consideration.

If a District encompasses countries in addition to India, will those countries also be subject to the GST?Back to TopThe 18% GST only applies to members that reside in India.

Can invoices be presented in INR?Back to TopNo. Under OIDAR, foreign entities are allowed to sell in their local currency (USD in the case of Toastmasters International) while still collecting GST.

Yes. Tax-exempt membership payments cannot be processed online and need to be done by our team at World Headquarters. If a tax-exempt corporation is paying for membership dues, the GST certificate should be emailed to taxquestions@toastmasters.org. Once approved, a club officer will need to provide a list of members that are being paid for and provide payment either through a wire transfer or providing credit card information.
If a member wants to pay for their own membership through Self-Pay, they will pay the GST, even if the club is tax-exempt.

Is there a confirmation when Toastmasters International pays taxes to the Indian government?Back to TopWorld Headquarters pays GST by the 20th of the following month. You can confirm the status at www.gst.gov.in.
